A customer takes home a beautiful houseplant. A few weeks later, they have a question every garden center knows well: Am I using the right soil?

That’s one reason we’re excited to welcome Sol Soils to the E-Commerce Connect supplier network. With premium potting mixes, hard-to-find soil components, and decorative soil toppers, Sol Soils gives garden centers more ways to help customers care for the plants they love.

Sol Soils joins E-Commerce Connect, bringing premium potting mixes, soil components, and decorative toppers to garden centers’ online stores.

Built to solve a familiar plant problem

Sol Soils began when founder Travis noticed how often water-retentive potting soil contributed to trouble for potted plants. He set out to develop chunky, fast-draining mixes that make plant care more forgiving and help reduce the conditions that lead to root rot. You can read more about that journey in the Sol Soils story.

The resulting line gives retailers useful answers for customers who are repotting a new houseplant, looking for a specialty mix, or adding a finishing touch to a container.

Why the retail connection matters

The people behind Sol Soils understand that independent garden centers and plant shops bring something valuable to the sale: knowledge. Customers turn to your team for help choosing a plant, understanding its needs, and keeping it healthy long after they leave the store. Sol Soils has spoken directly to that role in its plant care writing for garden retailers.

Sol Soils also has an established wholesale channel for retailers.

Its participation in E-Commerce Connect creates another way for garden centers to bring the brand into the customer experience: through their own online stores.

More ways to serve customers under your store brand

Through E-Commerce Connect, participating retailers choose the supplier products that fit their assortment. Customers shop through the garden center’s website, and participating suppliers fulfill eligible orders directly to them. Your garden center stays at the center of the customer relationship.

That makes Sol Soils a natural addition to an online plant assortment. A customer shopping for a houseplant can also discover soil suited to its care. A longtime plant enthusiast can find a specialty component. And in both cases, they can continue shopping with the garden center they already trust.

A growing assortment for a growing network

Sol Soils joins E-Commerce Connect at an exciting time. More garden centers are bringing their stores online, and more suppliers are joining the program to help them offer customers a broader selection. That growing network brings us closer to the endless aisle we envision for independent garden centers: plants, soils, and the products customers need to care for them, all offered through the retailer’s own store brand.

Sol Soils is an important addition because the conversation doesn’t end when a customer chooses a plant. Often, the next question is how to help it thrive.

We’re proud to welcome Sol Soils and look forward to helping our members make that next recommendation, whether their customer is standing in the garden center or shopping from home...
